STRENGTHENING THE TENT PEGS OF PRAYER

Berechiah and Elkanah were assigned as gatekeepers of the ark (1 Chr. 15:23).  What a privilege this was.  They were "security duty" for the ark of the covenant.  No one was closer to the ark on a regular basis than these two.  They were like the body guards to the president, except in this case, they were protecting the center of God's government on earth, the epicenter of God's glory on earth, and the place where God manifested His presence most strongly (Ex. 40:35; 2 Chr. 5:14).

As such, they would check the tent pegs, the tent poles, making sure the ropes were taut, for inside the tent resided the ark.  They made sure the tent would not fall down or go slack.

This what intercessory ministry is about.  Berechiah and Elkanah were jealous for the ark.  They possessed a passion for the glory of God.  David's tabernacle is a tent of worship. It's a tent of intimate fellowship (Ps. 27:4; 42:1, 84:1-4).  It's tent of grace and truth (Amos 9:11-2; Acts 15:19).  It's a tent of refuge and comfort.  It's a tent of supplication.  It's prophetic.

Intercession is a ministry of coming under God's burden.  It's a ministry of agreeing with heaven and praying God's Kingdom come and His will be done (Mt. 6:10).  That Berechiah and Elkanah were assigned as a twosome speaks of agreement in the tradition of Mt. 19:19.

Sr. Pastors are called to be Berechiah's and Elkanah's.
